We're enveloped in another extremely hot day in the D.C. area, as temperatures rise to about 100° once again.
The humidity will continue through much of our Tuesday, sending the heat index soaring to 102° to 110°. It will likely reach toward the high end of that range by mid-afternoon, under mostly sunny skies.

Extreme heat warnings will be in effect for the entire region until 9 p.m.
And, again, we will not receive much of a break overnight, as temperatures will dip to only about 80° with clear skies.
High pressure will start to break down slightly Wednesday, with a few more clouds. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s, with sunny skies. The humidity will still be around, so the heat index will be into the 100s once again, but it won't be quite as hot as the previous days.
As a frontal system edges closer to our region from the north and west, and an area of low pressure creeps in from the deep south, we could have a few thunderstorms fire off Wednesday afternoon. Those two atmospheric features seem to continue for the next few days, bringing us daily chances of afternoon storms all the way through the weekend.
The flow becomes more west to east heading into the weekend, modifying temperatures slightly. Expect daytime highs to be in the 80s and 90s through the weekend and into early next week.
